Summary: Helpful but confusing...
Comment: This book was good study material for the Security+ test but there were aspects of it that were confusing. Many of the answers to the practice tests directly contradicted information in the book and some questions were worded very ambiguously. The practice tests included actually made me doubt my ability to pass the exam but I still showed up to take the test anyway. I passed no problem.
Bottom line is....this book is decent study material for the test, it includes a pretty good overview of all of the objectives and covers all the important points, but the actually practice questions and tests are sub-par in my opinion.
PS: This book is for the earlier edition of Security+, not the 2007 edition. If you use this book to study for the 2007 edition (which I did) also be prepared to answer questions about WPA/WPA2 and anomaly-based IDS systems, which are not covered in the book.

Summary: Exam Cram 2 Security+ for the win!
Comment: I had a great experience with this bundle. The measure up test engine included with this package was fantastic. I used this package exclusively for my studies (I recommend at least 2 sources normally for these types of test). I used this package for 8 days (yes, eight days) and passed my security+. I would just run 100 questions at a time then mark and review any questions I missed and take the test again with just the missed questions. I did this for the duration of the 8 days and would use the big book for reviewing areas I was consistently missing questions. Then rinse and repeat. For the price you just can't beat the value of this package.

Summary: Security + Exam Cram
Comment: Overall the book was a good read and reference even though the exam is now at a 2007 level. The CD in the exam question book had some whopper wrong questions in it. There is 730+ questions in there and I found at least a dozen that the answer was wrong on. There is good study material here for the most part. It helped me pass the test on June 30th 2008.

Summary: I Like This Bookset!
Comment: After reading both the pros and cons about this set of books I pull the trigger to buy it. Two books for about only $25 with free shipping and no tax count me in.
Pros:
It uses the [...] test engine which is cool because you can customize the amount of questions and be able to pick the type of questions you would like and questions you missed too. This comes very handle to work with the 700+ questions they out on the question book.
I also like the fact that each book it came with the CD that has the test measueup software and the both .PDF version of the books too.
Cons:
The question book does lack explanation... that is why the 2nd book comes in very handle. It give you better understand of the terms and all. If you can score 100% on this 700+ question like three time I think you will do fine on the CompTIA Security+ test.

Summary: Good Combo for studying for Security + Certification
Comment: Practice questions are the most realistic of any that I've seen, however the explanations if you get the questions wrong are absolutely useless. They simply tell you the answer, with no indication why. So don't use the practice questions as a learning tool, just as an pre-exam test.
Book was a thorough source of information that was not covered in the Sybex Security + book that I purchased. I would recommend getting that book as well.
*******review update******* After taking the exam, the questions were nothing like the exam, I wish I could modify my 4 starts to 1 star. The actual exam has now been updated, and this practice exam is based on a different version of this certification. Please don't buy this.
