Customer Rating: Summary: Great book with very helpful diagrams/pictures Comment: It is required by my course TDC 425 about telecommunication and data network.I don't have a technical background but this book is so well written that it could be enjoyed by anyone.
It provides a great overview about networks, without overwhelming the reader with tedious facts. Every now and then the material is explained with the help of nice diagrams/pictures which make it easy to understand the language.
Also the author made it easy flowing by giving a touch of humor now and then.
There were only certain chapter required to be read for my course but it is so captivating that I end up reading almost whole book.
I enjoyed this book.

Customer Rating: Summary: Great deal! Comment: Great deal! Fast shipping! This item was in better than expected condition! Will buy from again!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great book that provides all I need Comment: I used this textbook for TDC course at DePaul.
It was really helpful and useful especially for newbie.
Plus the details are not too general.
Customer Rating: Summary: I actually learned something... Comment: This book laid out as much information as possible without cluttering the pages with filler. There were several real-world examples, and the helpful diagrams really put the words into action. Now, there's any humor in this book, so don't expect to be entertained. And there's a lot of information in this book. I mean a lot. But if you actually want to learn something about networking and data communications, you won't be disappointed.

Editorial Reviews:
|
Data communications and computer networks are becoming increasingly more important--today's business world could not function without either. Business managers, computer programmers, system designers, and home computer users alike need a thorough understanding of the basic features, operations, and limitations of different types of computer networks. Now in its fifth edition, DATA COMMUNICATIONS AND COMPUTER NETWORKS introduces concepts that help the reader achieve an in-depth understanding of the often complex topic of data communications and computer networks by balancing the more technical aspects and the everyday practical aspects. The fifth edition retains many of the elements that made the fourth edition so popular, including readability and coverage of the most current technologies. It offers full coverage of wireless technologies, industry convergence, compression techniques, network security, LAN technologies, VoIP, and expanded coverage of error detection and correction.
