Summary: Helpful guides, but lack of editing and office experience by author evident.
Comment: This book contains some mildly useful how-to exercises towards learning Revit. However, it still doesn't always convey all the necessary steps to fully utilize the various, and very practical capabilities of this software. Plus, the numerous and embarassing typo's throughout the text is an editor's nightmare, I would think. As I've suggested in a similar review, a much better reference for helping experienced AutoCAD hands like myself make the transition to Revit is Paul Aubin's 'Mastering Revit Architecture 2009'.

Summary: Ok but too wordy
Comment: I was hoping for a more straight forward how-to book. This covered all the right topics but it took three paragraphs to describe a subject that only needed a sentence. Maybe that means it's more comprehensive but I lost patience waiting for the author to get to the point. Basically, a lot more editing could have been done.

Summary: New to Revit? Start here
Comment: This is the way to start in your quest toward mastering Revit. The step-by-step tutorials are great and provide the basis for mastering massing, modeling, drafting and presentation. After a week with this I feel very comfortable with my progress and have added "Mastering Revit Architecture 2008" (the one with the compass on the cover)to introduce me to some of the additional powers of the program. Now I switch back-and-forth between the 2 books.
I am a convert from Arch Desktop and really encourage those who are considering Revit to take the plunge. It is a really exciting program.

Summary: Great Tutorials Easy To Learn
Comment: I'm not the type of person who can read a 700-800 page text manual to learn a new program, but instead look for step by step tutorials with screen shots and visual diagrams.

If you to learn programs this way I would highly reccommend this book, which teaches one step by step how to use all the Revit tools in terms of someone in the architectural field. Also FYI there are online free tutorials that help compliment this book on apple i tunes.

After going through this book and learning Revit you too will see how this program is going to become the standard.
