Psychedelic Background Lines

by Alien Pump

This is a very simple tutorial about making
very cool lines for using on background. I
use them a lot so if you think its good do it!

This tutorial wont work very good if the
background color of your image is black or
white.

1. The first step:
Create a new layer in your image. By using the Single Column Marquee Tool

create some vertical lines. Usually i put the on the right or the left side of
my image and i make one area where they are very saturated and put some
near them. Try to develop something like shown down:

Fill those lines with a bright color, for example very light blue.

2.Second step:
Now make a similar selection on a new layer, but put less lines.

Fill them with different bright color, for example very light green, and
color dodge this layer:

3. Third step:
Now you can repeat Step 2 a few times with different light colors. Use blue,
green, ye
llow and some violet. Color dodge their layers except for the violet.
It should look something like this:

4. The last step:
When you are satisfied with the look of your lines (you may put other colors
or whatever else you feel like putting on them, or you may experiment with
layer modes) you may not need exactly this color scheme for your image.
You may merge the layers and select Hue/Saturation to change the color of
the lines. My advise here will be to use a lot of saturation, more than 75:

That's it. I hope I am being useful to all.
One more advice: you may do those lines horizontal or whatever you want!
Just experiment with it.
And the last advice:
When you are using this kind of background you may select
only one pixel of it with the Select Single Row Marquee and use it as your background
image. The size of the image will be less than a kb!!!
