Customer Rating: Summary: a book every photographer should own. Comment: The Digital Photography Book, Volume 1
I sell my work to magazines and I have found that this book is one of the best for the working photographer that I have in my library. It doesn't tell you how your camera works, or about f/stops or shutter speeds. What it does is to help you when you are on a shoot. As Scott Kelby explains this book, he says that it is like your on a shoot with someone who is a real big time pro. You turn to him/her and ask, "how is your camera set up to take this shot?" And then explains how you should set your camera. Each page is a lesson, with a picture at the top of the page, and the lesson below as to how the results were arrived at. I love this book. I have taken pictures since 1958 and never had a good flower picture until I read this. I sell my work to magazines, and I have found that this is a good book to own. In fact I have purchased a second copy for my son, and have advised others about the value of owning this book.
Strong statement? Not if it helps you the way it helped me.
Customer Rating: Summary: Amazing Comment: This book is fantastic. It must be the bible for anyone who starts to shoot. The results are much, much better than I expected. Thanks to Scott for sharing his experience.
Customer Rating: Summary: within the first few pages Comment: I had already learned some things I didn't know. I enjoy his humor throughout the book
Customer Rating: Summary: Very useful reference. Comment: This book is an interesting read and handy reference. I find especially useful the last section that is a "If you want to take a picture like this, do this" section. In one to 1 1/2 pages each, the author give simple hints on how to set up specific kinds of shots. I intend to work through these sections and learn what I can hands on.
This is not a theory book but a book of practical hints and advice for a variety of situations.
