Customer Rating: Summary: This is Scott's best ever! Comment: I have been a Photoshop user for many years. In my quest to achieve competence with this outstanding piece of software, I have purchased and studied Scott's Photoshop books from Photoshop CS Book for Digital Photographers to the present CS3 version. His Digital Photography Book is also a part of my library. They are all great references and very readable but by far for me his Seven Point System for Adobe Photoshop CS3 is his most valuable approach in teaching the skills of Photoshop.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best Photoshop book available Comment: This is the best instructional book for those not entirely familiar with photoshop. The lessons are walkthrough work flows for photo touch ups and Kelby knows his stuff. Highly recommended.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not as good as his previous books! Comment: I was kind of disapointed after paying that much money for the book,First of all "I" didn't think there was enough variety in the lessons, although it gives you really good tips and pointers it kind of feels repetitive specially since there are two lessons that look almost the same, it is practically the same the same picture but different guys (Dave Cross,Matt Klokowsky)
if you liked the Photoshop books by Scott Kelby you may not like this book the cover of the book says that it would help you, us, everyone, to make our photos wow! here is the description and I quote" Scott's techniques work across a wide range of photos, and that's exactly what you'll be working on in the book, from landscapes to portraits, to architectural, to nature, from event photography to everything in between--there isn't a photo you won't be able to beat!" I DISAGREE GUYS :(
OK! now that I got off my soapbox,
In my opinion this book teaches you how scott was able to make his photos look the way they look.
to me it is not as good as his previous work namely Photoshop book for CS3 and Lightroom book
but then again THIS IS JUST MY OPINION.
Other than that Scott Kelby is a great author and a good teacher,Probably what happen with this book is that they allowed Matt do this book, and they just said Scott did it, to sabotage the good reputation of poor ol' Scott. Just Kidding Matt
Customer Rating: Summary: 7-Point System Comment: This is an excellent book. Although it's designated for Intermediate and Advanced Photoshop users, it works well for a beginning user who has first viewed some how-to videos, such as I did.
Although I knew a lot about photography, I had never used any version of Photoshop before CS3. I bought 4 videos from NAPP and learned much about Photoshop CS3, but was having trouble sorting out when to use what method. This book solved that problem for me. Within days of completing the first lessons, I was producing prints to submit to competitions in my camera club.
I highly recommend it for people who have done as I did or for intermediate and advanced users who want to learn Photoshop CS3.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not what I was expecting Comment: I have many Kelby's book. I bought this one expecting more of an advanced yet detailed explanations about the system. Not mucho of that.
Besides, thera are some photos that for me look better before the changes made with the 7 point system.
Good if you are the recipe kind of person.
