Summary: David Scott is a MUST read
Comment: David Scott's book on The New Rules is a MUST read for anyone seeking to expand their online presence in any way. If you want to start a blog, if you want to comment on other blogs, if you have a new product or service coming out, or you want to make an annoucement to the Western Hemisphere. Easy to read, chock full of good examples, and sequenced in a way that makes tremendous sense, this book needs to be a well-used part of your business library.

Not that I have an opinion.

Summary: As Good As It Gets
Comment: Your Inner Ceo: Unleash the Executive Within

Earlier this week BNET writer Geoffrey James published a column in which he shared his lists of the 10 most overrated and 10 most underrated business books. They're not all current; many titles go back several decades. I was eager to see the lists since I'm a business book author myself. I was also pleased to see that a book I read within the past month made the 10 underrated list. That book is THE NEW RULES OF MARKETING AND PR. Its ranking is truly deserved. As any marketer tries to amass all the new information about social networking, there's just so much of it, and some of it conflicting. What Scott's book does so well is meet the demand of the times in so coherent a way. It's savvy and all in one place. That's a super accomplishment and service. Scott follows his own advice, which is simple, clear and pointed. He helps us solve a problem for our customers or readers. That preparatory mind-work is what puts his blog right up there on top, too, alongside his bible of a book.

Summary: A must read for people working with PR and at communications departments
Comment: I work at communications department in a large international company and recommended it to all my colleagues.

The book give a very good view on how to use internet and different technologies eg blogs, streaming media to reach your target groups to a low cost. It doesn't matter if you work with marketing, online communications or PR, the book has something for all. You can also use it in your company for people to get better understanding of the different tasks being handled by different units. It is also easy to read and you can skip chapters and jump back and forward within the book.

A less positive thing is the big focus on blogs. I also lack a chapter or two about product review sites and product forums as a way of marketing.

Summary: Find Your Way through the Brave New World of PR
Comment: Wow, what a valuable book! Scott provides a detailed guide for PR practitioners who need to understand how to leverage the internet, how to break through the clutter and how to let go of old-school PR techniques in favor of new tactics that reflect the new ways consumers and customers get information.
Plain and simple: if you're in PR and you don't read this book, you're putting your career in jeopardy. Your boss wants someone who understands this stuff. The job David Meerman Scott saves may be your own.
