Customer Rating: Summary: Great beginners book, but the index is pitiful! Comment: This book will explain the basics of CSS and HTML so that the reader will finally understand it inside and out. But the index lets you down. How could the authors and contributors, so thorough in everything else, have forgotten to make a comprehensive index? Other than that, it's a great book.
Customer Rating: Summary: Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML Comment: This book is great for a true beginner. Don't skip any steps or parts. I was amazed with how quickly I could write HTML. If you know nothing of HTML, this is the book for you.
Customer Rating: Summary: I used my head with Head First Comment: Although I haven't finished the book yet, it definitely makes it simple to learn HTML and how to program web sites. This is something that would usually make me yawn and fall asleep, but they keep it light and interesting.
Customer Rating: Summary: Learning HTML - As good as it gets Comment: Anyone wishing to learn HTMLm CSSm XHTML should buy this book. Elisabeth Freeman takes an an easy-to-follow inductive, thoroughly illustrated approach in presenting this subject matter. Early on you create verifiable models and by the end you have reached the promised land. This book sets the gold standard for hands-on tutorials.
Customer Rating: Summary: A readable, understandable text (for a change) Comment: Most tech manuals manage to be simultaneously boring and unintelligible. The Head First books manage to avoid both of these drawbacks. Indeed, it is a refreshing change from the usual deadly dull computer text offerings. I knew some html coding, but wanted to update and expand my skills. This book enables without overwhelming and entertains as well. The authors' strategy is to repeat information with the use of graphics, puzzles, hands-on exercises and quizes to facilitate retention of the material. As a visually oriented person, I found the method helpful. However, some readers who are already very knowledgeable about the subject might find it too elementary.
