Customer Rating: Summary: Wow Comment: This book is a pleasure to learn with. I wish they had a math book like this when I was learning that.
The book takes a revolutionary new method of teaching material and makes it a joy to learn!
Sure you can go with free resources on the web and probably should; however, this book seems to help be to get it right from the very start.
Definitely worth the high price.
Customer Rating: Summary: Head First Rocks! Comment: I bought this book because I needed a creative outlet and web design seemed like a likely candidate. I knew almost nothing about HTML and CSS. When I was finished with this book(I read it faster than I ever could have expected)I knew almost all the fundamentals of HTML and CSS. I couldn't have imagined a book could be so well devised, so well calculated, so easy for any slacker like me to read. It's awesome. The book is put together in a way that makes your brain remember even stuff it doesn't really want to. I never wanted to quit reading, I really felt like I learned so much! The writers make it fun and there are tons of hands on activities to make sure you are learning as you go. The headfirst guys also have a download for practice work for every chapter.
All in All the best learning based book I have ever read!
Customer Rating: Summary: Best HTML Intro book you can get... Comment: .

Intermediate users (like myself) will also benefit. Like other commentors, the unique style and layout of the book enable an easy grasping of concepts and form of HTML/CSS. A good buy.
Customer Rating: Summary: Like something from Nickelodeon Comment: This book was written like it should be for children. It's very hard to read because it's formatted like a third grade English book. This is not a good book to learn HTML, CSS, or XHTML with, not even as a starter book.
I can truly say this book was the most disappointing book I have ever bought. I'm sorry to be so negative, but this book is just ridiculous. Don't waste your money.
Customer Rating: Summary: There is no better way to - learn! Comment: I love the head first series. Although I am accustomed to programming, I did not know much about website programming and needed a 'Help - I am an idiot' book to infuse me with everything there is to know for a good start. The idea of the series is that this and other programming topics are not really interesting for your brain--in the sense of: I am gonna die if I don't know about it--and thus they try to make it interesting by putting lots of pictures, crosswords, and similar stuff in it. Certainly, this is not a book for everybody, it is lengthy, but for those who love to be entertained while learning and appreciate it if everything is said at least three times to make it stick, this book and the other books of this series are perfect.
