Customer Rating: Summary: Rehash or new Comment: Can anyone tell me is this a rehash of McClelland's CS2 one-on-one with updates for CS-3 or does it include all new illustrations and excercises?
TIA
Customer Rating: Summary: Best CS3 book out there! Comment: I have tried many cs3 books to use to get started in the photoshop world. This book is the only one that introduces it and teaches it in a way that is perfect for one who has never used photoshop before. But, it also has great advanced techniques for the virtuosos out their. The vidoes included with the book help out a lot as well.Great Buy.
Customer Rating: Summary: Extremely helpful book Comment: I have longed for a book, with tutorials, just like this one. It is chock full of information that is organized well and presented in a way that I, a non-expert, can understand. I think that I have never rated a "textbook" this highly and I am not one to lavish praise, but this is a REALLY excellent book
Customer Rating: Summary: Not the Best Beginner Book but that's not why I bought it Comment: I bought this book because I liked the focus on special effects for the beginner level. To learn how to fix your photos in Photoshop, get Kelby's 7-Point System, to learn what you can do once the picture is where you want it, use this book. He teaches some fun effects as well as photo touch ups. Great collection of photos in the book and on the CD. I like the video training. He has a completely different approach than other training books so it is very useful to me when I want something explained a different way to help me learn.
Customer Rating: Summary: Absolutely The Best Intro to CS3 Comment: I've used several photo-editors such as Elements, Photo Impact, and the like, and read instructional books on these programs because frankly I was intimidated by the prospects of dealing with a massive photo-editor such as PhotoShop... However, after purchasing this book, I not only learned a wealth of background information on subjects such as histograms, color wheels and the like that other books just glossed over, but I gained a comprehensive 'way' to process my photos thru Photoshop. His grasp of the subject is incredible, pointing out the original darkroom origins of many of the photoshop functions he addresses. His instruction is not reduced to click this, then that, but moving thru many well-designed lessons that give you the REASONS why you use this function or that one, and WHY it does what does, and why you should make this change or that one based on a base understanding of the RGB origins of your photograph..
The three hours of video are tightly integrated into each lesson, then he walks you thru each of those areas step-by-step in the associated lesson.
Cannot adequately explain how impressed I have been with his attention to detail, how well organized his approach, how comprehensive are his lessons, and the depth of instruction interwoven in so well-conceived a lesson plan. This book simply 'ROCKS'.... But let me point out that of the many books I've purchased thru Amazon this is the FIRST book for which I've been moved to write such a glowing recommendation.
No book can you teach you everything, but his knowledge of the subject focuses your attention on the areas within Photoshop where most amateur photographers will spend the majority of their post processing time.
Cannot recommend this book too highly. Deke McClelland clearly is an expert in his field.
