Summary: Good but a bit much at times
Comment: I am a Photoshop newbee. I had gone through another book while waiting on this one. The book is great for new users with in depth explinations of almost every step used. At times there was little to much of Deke's personal comments which I felt was a waste of my time. I did not find the videos on the DVD all that helpful. All in all it was highly educational for me and increased my learning exponentially. I would give it 5 stars but the other book i got from Amazon, Dynamic Learning Photoshop was much more to the point.

Summary: The best Photoshop book for both beginners and professionals
Comment: I've been using Deke McClelland's books and courses to learn Adobe products for about ten years now, and I don't think it's an underestimate to say that this book and its author are treasures. Like all of Mr. McClelland's works, this book is both crystal clear and loaded with both advanced content and brilliantly constructed projects so as to have equal value to both beginners and professionals, and presented with wit to boot. I'm really looking forward to the forthcoming InDesign CS3 One-On-One and Illustrator CS3 One-On-One, and only wish that there were equivalent books for all of the Adobe programs. Thank you, Deke.

Summary: Great Study Material
Comment: I am new to Photoshop and very interested in webdesign and Photography. This book helps me a lot in understanding a great deal about Photography and the new Photoshop CS3. I am still in Chapter 6 and doing wonders already. My Friends think I am some sort of a Genius. Great Book !!!

Summary: An excellent resource!
Comment: As a person who has been familiar with various aspects of Photoshop for years, I was unsure if this book would give me the information that I wanted to learn. I've been able to learn various tasks that can be done in Photoshop, but these have been very limited and I've wanted to take my skills to a higher level. Also, as someone who dabbles in digital photography, I'm also interested in learning new skills to help me reproduce my images.
This book is excellent! Not only is the book flat out gorgeous to look at and thumb through, with full color on virtually every page, I found the addition of the DVD tutorials extremely helpful and well done. There are almost 3 hours of video, and for a visual learner such as myself I found it invaluable to watch the video first and then follow along with the book at my own pace.
As you likely already know, Photoshop is an extremely complex software and it is not a very intuitive one at that, at least until you get to know your way around. Adobe CS3 one-on-one will help you tremendously if you are new to the program. I found that I learned a ton of new stuff and had a great refresher for things I had already learned in the past.
When I'm asked by friends or family what book to use to learn Photoshop, this is the one! You will not be disappointed.
