Customer Rating: Summary: Perfect Introduction Comment: While several of the reviewers for this title were critical because they felt it was below their skill level or, in other cases, felt that the use of PhotoShop examples were not appropriate for the book's audience, I found this title to be a perfect introduction. I'm a PHP / MySQL hobbyist and found that while my various little applications worked, the finished product just didn't look good. This book provided an excellent foundation to help me remedy that problem.
The book discusses 'Layout and Composition', 'Color', 'Texture', 'Typography', and Imagery'. I enjoyed that it was written in an appropriately relaxed tone with touches of humor here and there. And while I didn't have PhotoShop when I read the book, I found the PhotoShop -specific examples very interesting. In fact, I was inspired to go out and buy a discounted copy of PhotoShop to give some of these techniques a try for myself!
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent introduction to Web Design Comment: This book is an exceptional introduction to the artistic how-to of web design. There are a lot of technical books out there but this one focuses on how to mske a website look visually pleasing and maintain a consistant look at the same time. It uses good color and design in the presentation of the book also. The information I gleaned from this book has helped me improve the look of my websites and has changed how I approach web design.
Customer Rating: Summary: Book and purchase review Comment: Book was delivered in condition advertised and arrived promptly as promised. Would buy from seller again
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice Addition To Your Library Comment: I recommend this book to web designers looking to grasp the basics of what makes a great design. It's also a nice book for developers that are less graphics savvy when it comes to their designs. I think it's a nice addition to any web designers library for inspiration.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice web design beginner book on graphic design for the web Comment: Very good book for those starting out in web design or who know code but not graphics design principles. Not so great for those that are experienced, but I don't think that is the target market. It made for a good review though, and it is something that is nice to have on the bookshelf.
I would definitely recommend any aspiring web designers get and read this book though, as it will help build their graphic design skills along with the code skills.
