Summary: Not What It Should Have Been
Comment: This is essentially a good program but is hardly an improvement over Photoshop Elements 5. That makes this upgrade more like a marketing ploy.

I have had no problem loading it on Vista but I only use it for RAW photos.

If Adobe Premiere Elements 4 worked on my computers that use AMD microprocessors I would feel better. I would even stop using Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006 for my JPEG's.

If Photoshop Elements 6 had some of Premiere Elements 4's features I would have written a rave review.

By the way, Adobe makes it a real pain to apply for the $20.00 rebate. This is consistent with their marketing strategies.

Summary: PhotoShop 6 poor print setup
Comment: I have PhotoShop Elements 3.0 and 6
For my PC I need resolution 960x600 and PhotoShop 6 doesn't support this
for their print settup. You can't see the word print. I can manage to
work that part anyway. The rest of their print setup is awful. It takes
many tries to get it to print the way you want. Yesterday I finally gave
up and went to CAMEDIA Master and printed the way I wanted in a few minutes.
One other complaint I have is - They didn't make it easy to unlock
a picture. Why should we have to go to - Image - Transform - Free Transform - OK just to get the picture unlocked. I hate this.

Summary: Cant they leave a good thing alone
Comment: I know i will not be liked by many people out there. I have been a advid user of adobes photoshop and switched over to elements at version 4.0. loved it then. It was easier to use than the standard photoshop. When 5.0 came along i was even more pleased with it. I said to myself more features on an already existing product. i again liked it. So when 6.0 came out i bought it sight unseen. Man what a disapointment. Yes it does have some good additions into this product line that i enjoy but this does not outway the bugs and features they have removed from it.

Pros:
1: Added a new feature when selecting objects to remove. a much added
improvement.
2: It boots up faster than version 5.0.

Cons:
1: it crashes with windows error everytime i close the program. I have
reloaded the operating system twice and it still does it. (i have
2 copies loaded on different machines and both experience these same
problems.
2: They removed the standard background color of the program and
replaced it with a brownish / black color. its hard to tell if you
have selected the button or not. cannot find any place to change the
color back.
3: the print feature is now messed up. Depending upon what printer im
sending it to it reverts back to the default printer even though i
went in and changed it.
4: I have to be extremely carefull when having more than one photo
opened (never had this problem on previous version) It is not
uncommon for this program to error and crash when trying to work with
more than one photo at a time.

This version of Elements has left a bad taste in my mouth. I would love to revert back to version 6.0 if i could but conditions do not allow me to. I am stuck with this program. I can only hope that they remedy thes bugs either in a patch or in the next release.

I dont recomend this to anyone. Keep version 5

Summary: A little disappointed... But I will get over it..
Comment: I purchased Photoshop Elements 5.0 less than many months ago; and was surprised to learn that Adobe's UPGRADE 6.0 edition would cost me another $79.00 - I phoned them directly to indicate my dis-satisfaction in effectively price-fixing the upgrade with no consideration for new Adobe customers. The CS representative was both professional and empathetic but indicated that NO options were available to me. While he (John) was happy to "push me up the chain" he assured me I would receive the same response.

Shame on you Adobe... You should be more considerate of new customers who purchase your products while newer versions are clearly in the window of QA for subsequent release.

I would have preffered to hear- oh you JUST recently purchased our product for the first time; we can offer you the upgrade at a discounted price. Had I known- an upgrade was that soon in the coming; I could have waited.

GREAT Product - but don't really feel the upgrade price vs: features is worth the $79.00 additional dollars; only $20.00 discount off full price. I could wait for Version 7 - though it will probably only cost me more to upgrade then if the features are right.

In addition the option to purchase the "academic" FULL version for only $59.00 is even more dis-heartening. I can appreciate that Adobe is in the busines to make money; but I am using the software in a personal hobby- not corporate or profit situation wherein income is derived from my hobby. In which case- I question the difference between an academic purchase price to joe student and as opposed to joe hobby consumer as opposed to professional photographers making and sustaining a profit based on the value of the product. But -- thats just an opinion.

Just my 2 cents
